Tues Blogcast: Ukraine wins (Eurovision); Dana Perino; Deadbeat dads

Just One Thing

Given the circumstances I guess it wasn't a big surprise but still a huge congratulations to Kalush Orchestra, the band representing Ukraine in the Eurovision 2022 Song Contest, for their big victory which was powered by television viewers. (A few other countries did better just among the official judges, but what do they know?!?) Check out the videos at the end of this blog note...the videos of their winning song, Stefania, tells a tale that should not need to be told. I've posted a highly-produced music video as well as the live performance at the contest. See also the video below of the band's press conference after their big win.

Today's Guests

Aurora City Council member Danielle Jurinsky (who is also a veteran of the Air National Guard) joins us to tell us one of the most outrageous stories I've heard in a long time. Truly disgusting and infuriating by the "partner" of recently fired Aurora Police Chief Vanessa Wilson. Read this and try not to scream: Ex-Aurora Chief Vanessa Wilson's partner submitted false child-abuse tip about councilwoman, investigators say (denverpost.com) We must learn whether Wilson knew of this.

With a new press secretary starting after Jen Psaki left for big bucks at MSNBC, it's a perfect day for today's guest, the one and only Dana Perino, co-host of America's Newsroom on Fox News as well as co-anchor on the unbelievably successful show (that was supposed to be temporary) The Five. We'll talk about the job of Press Secretary, about what's going on with this administration's communications blunders, and about Dana's most recent book, "Everything Will Be Okay: Life Lessons for Young Women (from a Former Young Woman)" which is now out in paperback.

This is Our Government, Tuesday Edition

What an embarrassing performance by Joe Biden's new Press Secretary. Wow...she can't even read from her talking points well.

Other Stuff

This is simply infuriating. Did Vanessa Wilson know?

And because why not, how about their song "Shtomber Womber"...

Finally, the song that came in second...and probably would have been first if the world had been living through different circumstances. It's called "Space Man" by Sam Ryder. For what it's worth, I actually like the Ukrainian song better.
