The Colorado Avalanche is in rare territory.
And in this case, that is not a good thing.
Friday night, the Avalanche fell to the Edmonton Oilers, 6-3, and suffered their third straight loss. It is only the second time all season the Avs have lost three games in a row. The first time was during the opening week of the season from October 16-21.
Valeri Nichushkin's goal at 8:29 of the first period gave Colorado a 1-0 at the first intermission.
But the Oilers came back with four goals in the third period and led 4-2 at the second intermission.
Nichushkin added his second goal in that second period and Nathan MacKinnon scored in the third.
Edmonton forward Evander Kane had a hat trick to pace the Oilers attack.
Colorado closes out its three-game road trip against the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday, April 24 at 5 p.m. MDT.
