Avs Blow By Kings, 9-3, On Record-Setting Night

That didn't take long.

The Colorado Avalanche came out rolling and blew out the Los Angeles Kings, 9-2, on Wednesday night at Ball Arena.

The Avs came out on fire, scoring four first period goals. Nicolas Aube-Kubel had two, Nathan MacKinnon had one, as did Valeri Nichushkin.

After the Kings scored twice to begin the second period, Andre Burakovsky and Cale Makar scored to close out the period and put the Avs up 6-2.

Then in the third period, MacKinnon took over. He added two more goals to give him a hat trick. Nichushkin added his second of the game.

Colorado is now 29-4-3 at home. It was the Avs 53rd win overall this year. Both the 29 honme wins and 53 overall wins are franchise records. Colorado continues to lead the NHL with 112 points.
