Herbert Jones had his way for the New Orleans Pelicans.
Jones' 25 points led the Pelicans over the Denver Nuggets, 113-105, Friday night at Ball Arena.
The Nuggets never could lock Jones down. The rookie out of Alabama was 8-10 from the field, 3-4 from three-point range and 6-6 from the free throw line while coming just shy of his career-high of 26 points.
The game was tied at 82 after three quarters. New Orleans made its move in the fourth, outscoring the Nuggets 31-23.
It was 97-97 after Nikola Jokic hit a shot with 5:40 to go. The Pelicans scored the next six points to go up 103-97 and the Nuggets could not recover from that. It was not a huge run but it was enough for New Orleans to hold on.
Nikola Jokic led Denver with 25 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists. Monte Morris had 19 points while Will Barton added 17.
The Nuggets are next in action on Sunday, February 6 against the Brooklyn Nets. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. MST.
