Things were looking good for the Colorado Buffaloes midway through the third quarter.
But the Washington St. Cougars used a key run to turn the tide and eventually get a 63-56 win at the CU Events Center.
The Buffs led 36-29 with 4:33 to go in the third quarter before the Cougars got things in gear. They used a 21-8 run to turn that seven-point deficit into a 50-44 lead with 6:30 remaining in the game.
The Buffs closed the gap to two points on a couple of occasions but could never get over the hump, thanks in part to Cougars sophomore guard Charlisse Leger-Walker, who poured in a career-high 30 points.
Quay Miller led CU with 14 points. Tameiya Salder and Mya Hollingshed each added 10.
The Buffs have lost five of their last six games and are 14-6 overall, 3-6 in the Pac-12. Washington St. raised its record to 14-6, 6-3 in the Pac-12.
CU hosts Washington on Sunday, February 6. Coverage starts at 11:30 a.m. MST on 630 KHOW.
Postgame comments from CU guard Tameiya Sadler and head coach J.R. Payne.
