It was a terrific homecoming for Darcy Kuemper.
The Colorado Avalanche stopped all 20 shots he faced to help the Avs to a 5-0 win over the Arizona Coyotes and a sweep of the home-and-home series on back-to-back nights.
In the process, the Avalanche tied the Nashville Predators for first place in the Central Division. Both teams have 51 points.
Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen each scored two goals to pace the Avs offense.
Colorado acquired Kuemper from Arizona in a trade this past offseason. Kuemper spent the last three-plus seasons with the Coyotes. The shutout was his first as an Avalanche player.
The Avs host the Minnesota Wild on Monday, January 17. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m. MST.
