A measure requiring Denver retailers to charge customers ten-cents for each paper or plastic bag is heading to the full City Council. The move was unanimously approved by the Finance and Governance Committee yesterday. A portion of the money collected would go to the city to educate people on sustainable habits and to offer customers reusable bags. The full city council is expected to take up the measure later this month. If approved, it could be in place as soon as July 1st of next year.
